Foskoskies' Vibe...

Foskoskies is proud to bring you great food, made from scratch, using the freshest ingredients (local when possible) and lots of time grown right here within the neighborhood itself.  4 Years, and going strong!  The neighborhood restaurant you wished your neighborhood actually had-Charlotte Magazine.

We are located in what used to be Pike's Pharmacy Soda Shop, a turn of the century style soda shop with lots of character. We have updated to give more of a Parisian Cafe feel...complete with rear patio and garden as well as a private dining room with white table clothes and room for parties as large as 75.  Eatery has small-town feel with uptown vibe, inspired by Grandpa-Charlotte Observer.

History of Foskoskies

My fraternal grandfather, Walter O’Leary Rushton Sr. and grandmother Margaret Clara Buck opened Foskoskies Drive-In, Restaurant, Motel, and Ice Delivery Service in Augusta, GA in 1947, On the Corner on Gordon Hwy and Olive Road. It was a thriving business throughout the beginning of the post war era. During those early years my Family entertained Master’s members, spectators and professional photographers (Original B/W photos are on display throughout the restaurant). Even as Augusta National began to gain prominence, the City of Augusta had very few dining establishments where locals or tourists could gather-other than Foskoskies or the Town Tavern (Where My Great Aunt Catherine ran the kitchen). My mother, Linda Sue Hall, Started Working at Foskoskies in 1962 when she was just 16 years old. This is where she met my future Father, Walter O’Leary Jr. Some of my earliest memories are of being bathed by my grandmother in the giant pot sinks along with my sister and cousins after a day of playing (and driving our grandparents crazy) at the restaurant. The recession of the 70’s and the influx of fast food chains eventually cast their shadow on the business and The Original Foskoskies closed early in 1975. The Origin of the Name of the Restaurant is still unknown, but my 91-year old grandmother, ‘Maggie’ thinks since my Grandfather told 'many a tall tale', that he simply made it up.
